April Fools' Day is a holiday that many believe began in the Roman times as a festival called Hilaria. This is a great jumping off point when discussing this holiday with your students being mindful, of course, to stress the importance of being kind and not hurting others' feelings when playing pranks. Telling silly jokes or creating funny costumes can be incorporated into your classroom's celebration but we think it is also a wonderful opportunity to build literacy skills.
